Police: Man calls 911 after shooting, killing girlfriend

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting in DeKalb County Tuesday night that left a woman dead.

Detectives said the shooting happened in inside the victim’s boyfriend’s apartment on Place Fontaine near Fairington and Panola roads. %

The woman's boyfriend called 911 and waited for officers to show up.

“When they arrived, a male subject standing outside stated that a female was shot inside his apartment,” DeKalb County police Lt. Rod Bryan said.

Officers found a 39-year-old woman dead from a single gunshot.

“The subject stated that was his girlfriend, they got into an argument which (turned) into a physical fight, a gun was produced and she was shot,” Bryan said.

Detectives didn't say why the couple was fighting, but the victim's 40 year-old boyfriend confessed to shooting her, police said.

“They were the only two in the house, no kids or anything,” Bryan said.

Police said the two didn't live together and she came to his apartment.

The man was arrested and charged with murder.
