FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The deer jumped straight through the window, landing in the kitchen and causing a gruesome scene inside.
It was a scene straight from a horror movie, so gruesome and bloody Channel 2 Action News had to blur the evidence photos.
“It is horrific, almost traumatizing. If you didn't have a good foundation it would be traumatizing,” tenant Cherry Moore said.
Moore said she was thankful she received a warning call from her neighbor before setting foot in her home.
“I would have freaked out,” Moore said.
A deer not even a year old was so scared, police say, trying to escape a group of kids.
“It completely missed my living room when it landed. It landed in my living area so it had to be traveling at a high rate of speed,” Moore said.
Connie Lewis was home, right next door when it happened. She said she heard a loud boom when it happened.
Police were called to the scene and tried to round up the frightened fawn, but couldn't get it under control.
There was glass in its leg and police said it was bleeding out in the kitchen of the apartment.
Officers finally got the deer outside and made the decision to put it out of its misery.
Police said the kids who scared the deer likely will not face charges. As for Moore, she said she's thankful her teenaged son wasn't home at the time.
“That doesn’t happen every day,” she said. “It was unbelievable."
