“They were obviously targeting high-ticketed items,” said Charis McWhorter, co-owner of Zoet Beauty Supply.
McWhorter told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington the burglars got away with $15,000 worth of hair and equipment.
“It really saddens me, especially with this being a Black-owned beauty supply store and it being Black History Month. It’s a bad time, but surely when we’re supposed to be supporting and uplifting one another,” McWhorter said.

McWhorter and co-owner Dana Hawkins believe the burglars did not work alone.
They said that because the store sells mostly women’s hair products, they think a woman cased the store days earlier and told the two burglars what to steal.
“They went directly to the items that the average young boy is not even thinking of,” McWhorter said.
Over the past few years, Channel 2 has reported on several beauty supply store burglaries in Metro Atlanta.
Both McWhorter and Hawkins said wigs and weaves are pricey items, and unfortunately thieves are aware of that.
“We feel totally violated,” Hawkins said.

The owners plan to better secure the front door and the locks with hopes that another burglary will be prevented.
