Body of 61-year-old man found in Lake Acworth

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man has died after drowning at an Acworth park, according to police.

Acworth Police Department Capt. Mark Cheatham said the victim was identified as Ricky Wayne Watson, 61, of Austell.

Officials said Watson was last seen swimming in Lake Acworth outside the designated swimming area on Friday evening.

The Cobb County Fire Department and its water rescue team deployed a boat equipped with sonar to search the bottom of the lake.

After stopping the search for the night, Watson’s body was recovered Saturday morning.
