A Clayton County fast-food restaurant started off the new year by failing its health inspection.
The manager for the Wendy's on Tara Boulevard told Channel 2's Carol Sbarge what he has done to address the violations that led to the failing score.
The restaurant failed its inspection, receiving a score of 68 on Jan. 3. Some of the violations included six cases of French fries that were severely damaged, exposing the food to potential contaminates, observed raw pork stored directly above ready-to-eat cheese and observed the concentration of the sanitizing agent below the minimum level recommended.
Before the 68 score, the Wendy's got a 91 last year and an 80, which is a "B," in 2012.
Sbarge talked by phone to district manager Larry McKinney.
McKinney said the French fries were thrown away and signs are now up reminding employees about proper storage. He said the other violations have also been fixed including the sanitizer and the cheese was moved.
The inspection score posted was not the recent one of 68, which is required to be posted.
Wendy's expects to be re-inspected by Monday. Restaurants must get a score of 70 or above to pass.
