Chick-fil-A tests waffles, new breakfast items

ATLANTA — Chicken and waffles seem like a perfect match. Now you can get them at a restaurant known more for waffle fries.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is testing an expanded breakfast menu for a limited time in several locations.

New to the menu are maple waffles, multigrain oatmeal with fresh fruit, Greek yogurt parfait and an egg white chicken grill sandwich.

The Chicken & Waffle includes the boneless chicken breast the chain is famous for along with a "caramelized sugar crunch and maple syrup baked on the inside.No additional syrup is required for the meal which has 440 calories.

The Egg White Chicken Grill is a chicken version of the Egg McMuffin -- chicken stacked with egg whites and American cheese on a toasted multigrain English muffin. The sandwich is 300 calories.

"As our customer base continues to grow, so does the variety of our customers' appetites and dietary preferences," Brian Wray, manager of menu development, told the LA Times.

Also available on the new breakfast menu are cinnamon swirls.

The breakfast items are only available in middle Georgia, Southern California, Philadelphia and Memphis, Tenn.
