ATLANTA — A new college football tradition continues on December 17, 2016 at the Georgia Dome. The second annual Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl will feature a new match-up of champions from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Grambling State Tigers and the North Carolina Central Eagles will battle in the historic bowl game’s second year.
Our live coverage begins early on Channel 2 Action News This Morning. Then at 11:00 a.m., Channel 2 presents “The Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl Countdown,” a live half-hour program.
Channel 2's Fred Blankenship and Sports Director Zach Klein will host the special that includes interviews with bowl officials, a breakdown of the teams’ strategies and a look at some of the metro Atlanta student-based programs that benefit from the Celebration Bowl.
Surrounding the event are special attractions organized by 100 Black Men of Atlanta. They include a robotics showcase, a youth symposium, an uplifting gospel concert and a special fan experience.
Following the countdown show, there will be a special edition of Channel 2 Action News at 11:30 a.m. with weather, gameday traffic and news of the day. Afterwards, the battle to determine which championship team will become legendary begins at noon.
