ATLANTA — Vice President Kamala Harris looked regal in her bright purple coat during inauguration on Wednesday.
The jacket, which drew compliments from people across the country, was designed by SCAD’s own Christopher John Rogers.

Rogers, who is a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund-winner, has also designed clothes for Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, and Michelle Obama.
Rogers graduated from SCAD in 2016. He launched the CJR brand with his SCAD senior thesis collection and a close cohort of friends from his class.
The CJR collection really made a name for itself after Cardi B wore the Eddie fox, mink, and ostrich intarsia fur coat to the BET Hip Hop Awards.

On Wednesday, it shined bright once again -- on our new VP.
“Vice President Kamala Harris, the embodiment of historical firsts, strode proudly onto the world stage as a modern superwoman,” said SCAD president and founder Paula Wallace. “Congratulations, Vice President Harris! Bravo, Christopher!”
Many say the color of the coat was a nod to Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to Congress. It has also been known to signify bipartisanship, as a mix of red and blue.
