Valdosta State student fighting same cancer Jovita Moore had

ATLANTA — Dominique Jennings and her sister Desiree know that life brings good days and bad.  They’ve learned to truly cherish the good.

Dominique’s son Kameron, who they call “Kam,” just turned 20 years old. Eighteen months ago, the week he started college at Valdosta State University, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, the same rare form of brain cancer our friend and Channel 2 colleague Jovita Moore had.

“I see him happy or smiling. Just enjoy those moments because they’re limited. Anything to make him smile, any small thing that’ll make him happy, that makes me happy,” Dominique Jennings said.

After two surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, Kam is now in home hospice care. All along that very difficult road, Kam has made the most of every day.

“Do the fun things. That’s one thing I can credit my sister for. She pushed him to still do the fun things,” his aunt Desiree said.

His friends helped with that. Kam played baseball at North Atlanta High School. This week, the team dedicated a “Kam” sign on the outfield fence.

They will also wear his number on their helmets this season.

His mom is grateful for that, and for every moment she can spend with her son.

“Earlier today he was talking to me for a good while, like three minutes. That doesn’t sound like a long time, but it’s a long time,” she said.
