ATLANTA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is at the scene of an officer-involved shooting early Thursday morning.
Atlanta police tells Channel 2 Action News there was a fight at Club La Vie on Luckie Street around 2:20 a.m. They say an off-duty officer working security tried to break it up, and a man pulled out a gun and pointed it at the officer.
Police say the officer fired a shot and the suspect ran away.
The officer was not hurt. It is unclear if anyone was hit.
“I am told the officer is OK. And that the officer encountered an armed suspect firing a weapon outside the club. That suspect has fled the scene,” said Atlanta officer Ben McGee.
Evidence at the scene indicated that more than one weapon was discharged, investigators said.
Simpson Street at Luckie Street was temporarily blocked due to the investigation.
