The daughter of late civil rights legends Rev. Dr. Hosea Williams and former state Rep. Juanita Williams, Omilami has taken the charge from her parents to continue to feed and provide clothes and assistance for people in the community who need it by creating Hosea Helps. But while helping everyone else, Omilami said she stopped taking care of herself.

“The last mammogram I had was 2019. Missed 2020. Missed 2021,” Omilami said. “Thinking, ‘Oh, that’s just, you know... trivial. It’s not something you really need to do. Not something I need to be. I’m too busy, ya know.’ Absolutely cannot be too busy.”

The activist, actress, mother and grandmother said this was part of God’s plan for her.

“I went for my yearly, uh, GYN exam and she felt a lump. And she said, ‘Oh, that’s probably just, you know, calcium or something. Let’s do a biopsy.’ Did the biopsy, did an MRI, did a pet scan, did an MRI-guided biopsy. All of that. And then the diagnosis came in,” Omilami told Channel 2 Action News.
