Identical twins making metro area history in the shipping business

ATLANTA — Alyssa Strickland and her sister Brittney Strickland-Varnedoe know their way around anything with 18 wheels.  “I drive that.  I tell my son, momma drives trucks like that,” Alyssa said.  They both do.  They have quite a lot in common.

“We just tell everybody call us twins.  We’ve been called twins our whole lives.  Shoot, when we were young we thought twins actually was our name,” Brittney said.

The identical twins have now made history.  They are the first women at the huge Atlanta hub of UPS to become on road supervisors.  They train the drivers of the big rigs.

“I can’t express how proud I am.  It’s an honor and has been an honor to work with them,” UPS Supervisor Kimberly Smith said.   Smith says this year marks 100 years of women in the ranks of UPS.  Today women with the company work in every role, including the CEO.
