Huge fashion event held in Atlanta

ATLANTA — On Saturday, a huge fashion event at Clark Atlanta University honored Atlanta’s own music and entertainment mogul Jermaine Dupri and actress Jasmine Guy.

The event founder said this is just one more way to celebrate homegrown talent and help the world realize that Atlanta fashion is global.

“When you think about fashion, you think about L.A., New York, Milan,” David Manuel, Director of Fulton County Arts & Culture, said. “Well, I want you to start thinking about Fulton County because the fashion industry, the schools that provide fashion, is huge in Fulton County.”

This is the fourth year the invite-only event has been presented by the Fulton County Department of Arts and Culture.

Each year, the event features collections by the design students in Fulton County.

This year, students represented SCAD and Clark Atlanta University, among others.

“We have exchanges with Ghana. We are in New York right now for fashion week,” BJ Arnett, Chair of Art & Fashion at CAU said. “We have students right now backstage with Harlem’s fashion row.”
