“For Hertz, Atlanta is a critical hub for our business,” Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said. “Through this partnership, we will build on our existing presence in this incredible community by adding up to 4,000 electric vehicles to our fleet by the end of 2024.

Scherr says Hertz, in partnership with Uber, will also install eight public fast chargers near the airport and provide data on where electric vehicle chargers are needed most in the metro area.

Mayor Dickens says this is another leap forward in achieving Atlanta’s sustainability goals.

“We are excited that Hertz is expanding its EV fleet right here in the A-T-L, making more electric vehicles available to the Atlanta area customers,” Dickens said.

During the presentation, Hertz provided the Atlanta College and Career Academy with a Chevy Volt.

It will allow automotive technology students like 17-year-old Erielle Sharpe to get hands-on experience working with electric vehicles.

“I think it’s important to learn about EVs because if that’s really where the world is going, we can’t have everybody stuck in the past. We have to have the world move forward and have everybody educated on what’s going on,” Sharpe said.

Hertz says its electric vehicles have traveled more than 32 million miles in metro Atlanta alone.
