Perdue lost his senate re-election campaign earlier this year when he was defeated by Democrat Jon Ossoff.
Both sources confirm Perdue has had discussion with state Republican party leaders, and that preliminary calls have been made to potential donors. But again, those same sources say Perdue has not made a final decision.

If he decides to run, he will face incumbent Governor Brian Kemp along with GOP newcomer Vernon Jones in the Republican primary.
Perdue is cousin to former two-term Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.
