ATLANTA — Police say they are still looking for a suspect after an Atlanta police officer opened fire on a man holding a gun.
Investigators said just before 6 p.m. Monday, officers on patrol heard gunshots being fired off in the area of Parkway Drive and Wabash Avenue.
Around the same time, 911 calls started coming into the department about the shots being fired.
Atlanta police said they quickly located a suspect vehicle, described as a white SUV.
Investigators said the SUV stopped on Highland Avenue near Parkway Drive, where the four men inside got out and tried to run.

Police were able to catch two of the men who ran, but another one got away.
The man who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries and is currently stable.
No officers were injured in the incident. Atlanta police said they took the rifle and determined that the SUV was stolen.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in and has taken over the case, which is customary with shootings that involve police officers.
