2-year-old girl found safe after Amber Alert

Amber Alert for Amina Cole Amina Cole is missing.

SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — A 2-year-old girl has been found safe after an Amber Alert was issued Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said Amina Cole was found after she was taken by Johnetta Leigh Taylor, 21 in Griffin.

Authorities said officers were called out to a home on the 400 block of Circus Street in Griffin on Wednesday night in reference to a shooting. At first, the officers couldn’t find anyone hurt but found gun casings and blood at the scene.

The officers later found out the victim, who was shot in the face, was in the hospital.

Detectives said they spoke to witnesses at the crime scene who identified Taylor as the shooter. During the course of the investigation, authorities learned that Taylor had a child with her. That was when the Amber Alert was issued.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office later found Taylor and the little girl on Thursday. Taylor was taken into custody on aggravated assault with intent to murder charges.

Griffin Police Department Investigators are still actively following up on leads and interviewing witnesses in this investigation.

The victim is expected to recover.
