BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult in the attempted robbery of a convenience store in Middle Georgia.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Tyrek Blackshear was inside the Mercer Food Mart in Macon attempting to play a gambling machine when he was approached by a worker asking for identification. That’s when deputies said Blackshear pulled out a handgun and demanded cash from the register.
The worker was able to lock himself behind a protective plexiglass counter, forcing Blackshear to leave the store emptyhanded.
When deputies arrived at the store, they were given a description of Blackshear and began searching for the suspect. Authorities later found Blackshear, and a toy gun they said was used in the attempted robbery along the 1600 block of North Atwood Drive.
