ATLANTA — Georgia State Patrol says 13 people were killed on the state’s roads over Christmas weekend.

That’s down a bit from last year, when 16 people were killed over the holidays.

A driver was found dead at the scene of a crash at the intersection of Butner and Niskey Lake roads in southwest Atlanta around 3:45 a.m. on Christmas morning. Investigators believe the driver lost control of the vehicle, flipped and hit a tree. No one else was in the car at the time.

Another person was killed in a crash in DeKalb County over the holiday weekend.

Three people were killed in two separate crashes in Bibb County. One of those people has been identified as 41-year-old Jerome Jarrell, of Macon. Jarrell was the only person killed in that crash.

Crashes in Hartwell and Grovetown also each killed two people. The accident in Hartwell, which happened on Monday afternoon. killed 81-year-old Frances White Morrison and her 66-year-old passenger, James Richard White, according to Access Dunwoody.

The other fatal crashes happened in Rincon, Cartersville, Hartwell, Grovetown, Toccoa and Forsyth County.
