GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County 6th grader says when the weather turns colder, his mission is to help others heats up. He collects ‘warm winter items’ to give to children in need.
Hats, gloves, and scarves – So many kids don’t have them. Caden Jackson aims to make sure they don’t go without.
The 11-year-old said his plan comes from a higher power.

“It was because of God. Because He gave me a plan to help kids who don’t have moms and dads,” Jackson said.
His aunt said when Jackson was 4, he decided to take action.
“His motto was, he wanted to help kids who needed a little help, or didn’t have mommies and daddies,” Rhea Johnson said.
He does that by collecting warm winter items and then giving them to local schools and children in foster care.
“The need is greater than what we first even imagined,” Johnson said.
Every Saturday in the weeks leading up to Christmas for the last 7 years, Jackson has set up shop outside a Gwinnett County Buy Buy Baby store accepting donations of warm winter wear, which he then delivers to children. He calls the effort Loved and Protected and aims to make it grow.
