1 shot at gas station in front of Morrow Walmart

It happened at about 3 p.m. at the Murphy Gas Station in front of the Walmart at 6065 Jonesboro Road, in Morrow.

MORROW, Ga. — Police said they have two men in custody after a gas station shooting in Clayton County Wednesday afternoon.

Morrow police told Channel 2's Tom Jones that surveillance cameras at the Murphy USA gas station at 6065 Jonesboro Road in Morrow recorded two groups of men involved in a shootout.

"The video actually shows the shooting itself," said Morrow police Capt. James Callaway.

The shooting left the gas station parking lot littered with spent bullets and one man wounded.

Police quickly caught two suspects at a home nearby.

"Well there was a Clayton County deputy sheriff that was doing community outreach projects inside the Walmart. That deputy sheriff heard the shots. He radioed in for assistance," Callaway said.

That led police to the house where they arrested the suspects.

The shootout happened around 2:30 p.m., which was a busy time in the area.

"There were customers and they have been interviewed. Nobody else was shot," Callaway said.

Police did not know the condition of the man who was shot. The gas station was expected to be closed for a while.
