Kid Rock Plays Gwinnett Arena

DULUTH, Ga. — Kid Rock brought his "Born Free" Tour to the Gwinnett Arena Friday night.

The show was sold out and supported Kid Rock's "Born Free" album.

Kid Rock's concert opened with a montage of images from his elementary and high school years. Then, he came running out in a fur vest to an arena full of fans.

Kid Rock ran into trouble following a 2007 concert here. The musician and his crew stopped at a Waffle House on Buford Highway following a performance in Atlanta. A fight broke out between his crew and Harlen Akins.

Late last year, jurors ordered Robert James Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock, and three defendants to pay $40,000 Friday in a lawsuit stemming from the fight.

Ritchie was ordered to pay 15 percent of the compensatory damage charge. The rest of the charge will be split amongst his personal assistant, Wendall Murphy, guitar player, Jason Krause, and security guard, Brian Lang.

Kid Rock referenced the incident two songs into the show.
