A jury found Michael Harvey guilty of all counts just before noon. The decision came after four hours of deliberations over two days. Judge Russell sentenced Harvey to three consecutive life sentences.

Harvey was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and aggravated sodomy in the 1994 death and rape of 39-year-old Valerie Payton.

Payton's nude body was discovered in southeast Atlanta during the height of several unsolved murders targeting Atlanta prostitutes in the early 1990s.

Prosecutors said the case was unsolved for more than a decade until DNA evidence linked Harvey to the crime in 2005.
