ATLANTA — An Atlanta grandmother made the best mistake of her life at a Georgia Lottery instant ticket vending machine.
Bobbie Ware, 84, accidentally played the instant game $300,000 Taxes Paid at the Korger on Caroline Street in Atlanta.
"I was upset," she said. "That wasn't the ticket that I meant to get."
But Ward quickly got over her mistake once she scratched the ticket and saw that she won $300,000 after taxes.
"It's been fun," Ware said. "I can't believe this. It still hasn't sunk in."
Ware, a former social worker, retired from the Georgia Department of Human Resources after 35 years of service.
She's a mother of four and grandmother of 10 and Ware plans to share the lottery prize with her family.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
