GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A goose with an arrow lodged in its side drew the attention, then the outrage, of visitors to a Gwinnett County park on Tuesday.
The goose appeared able to fly and waddled freely around Shorty Howell Park in Duluth, according to Channel 2's Erica Byfield.
A Channel 2 Action News viewer said he saw the wounded bird and called Gwinnett County Animal Control, however authorities simply came and left the goose behind.
Goose Found With Arrow In Its Side
"Poor thing, he seems to be doing OK. He's walking, flying and swimming, but it's still sad. He has to be feeling something," said park visitor Kristi Nichols. "Who can survive an arrow going through it?" added Nichols.
Calls to Animal Control and the Georgia Wildlife and Resources Division were not returned, according to Byfield.
Sharon Bird was visiting the park with her granddaughter, Lilly, when they came across the goose.
"It looked like it was wobbling, and it looks like it was trying to pull it out," said 4-year-old Lilly.
"They must not have anything better to do than to be over here doing something like that," said Bird of whoever shot the goose.
