Woman dead, brother critical after early morning house fire in northwest GA

113 Garden Grove Lane fire A woman lost her life early this morning after fire erupted in her home, leaving her husband and brother injured after they tried to extinguish the flames.

CATOOSA COUINTY, Ga. — An early morning house fire claimed the life of a woman, and left her brother and husband with severe injuries.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, Catoosa County E-911 received a phone call informing them of a house fire next door at 113 Garden Grove Lane.

When the Catoosa County Fire Department arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke conditions inside of the home in question.

The homeowner was outside with visible injuries to his hands, but told them his wife was still inside. The victim’s brother was also outside of the home with severe injuries.

Firefighters went back into the home to rescue the woman, but she was found in a bedroom deceased. Her brother was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family. The brother’s condition is currently unknown. The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
