RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. — An Augusta man has been charged with child molestation after his wife found a video of him and a 5-year-old relative and called the police, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said.
The identity of the child was known but is being withheld for their privacy.

The wife of Charles Hawkins Jr., 45, called police after discovering the video on March 13 and showed it to a deputy. The video was made earlier in the week, police said.
The suspect’s wife told police Hawkins had left on foot before they arrived, but when police searched the home they found Hawkins hiding in a bathroom, according to a police report.

Hawkins is being held in the Richmond County Jail. He faces six charges, including non-aggravated child molestation and aggravated sexual battery.
