ATLANTA, Ga. — An Atlanta man faces a lifetime in prison after he was convicted of raping seven women in the span of four years.
Marvin Martin, 33, was sentenced this week to 12 consecutive life terms without parole, plus 20 years, making it the largest-ever sex crimes sentence in the history of the Fulton County Superior Court system, the Fulton County District Attorney's Office said.
A jury convicted Martin on charges of rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated assault with intent to rape and kidnapping.
The rapes all happened between 2005 and 2009.
In each case, Martin would search for women along the Fulton Industrial Boulevard corridor and would coax them into his truck.
Martin would then take out a knife or a gun and force the women to perform sex acts on or with him.
In June 2009, investigators were able to link Martin to the rapes through the Department of Transportation number on his truck.
Several of his victims identified him through a photographic lineup.
Martin was then arrested and was ordered to give a DNA test, which came back with a positive match to six of his victims.
