ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has obtained the 911 call made by Amy Windom after someone broke into her Grant Park home at about midnight Tuesday.
Windom, tied to her bed, used a laptop computer within a toe's reach to seek help.
"I had a lot of time to think about MacGyver moments," said Windom.
Windom said the thief stole a number of items and then left her there bound. She somehow messaged her boyfriend, John Hilton, who then called 911. Channel 2 Action News reporter Eric Philips listened to the entire 911 call and spoke with Hilton about his struggles to explain to a 911 dispatcher how his girlfriend contacted him.
""I was in shock...couldn't believe it," said Hilton.
Hilton to 911 operator: Well, actually ... I was on the computer doing my work and she IM'd me.

911 Operator: She did what to you? She e-mailed?
Hilton: Instant messaged.
911 Operator: OK, so someone sent you a message ... I'm trying to see if she's tied to the bed.
In the recording, you can hear the confusion in the operator's voice.
Hilton: She's typing with her toes, so she's not really telling me a lot.
911 Operator: OK, typing with her toes, advising she was just robbed?
Police later arrived, and fortunately, Windom was not hurt.
"She's creative ... used what she's got," said Hilton.
"I don't have the world's prettiest feet, but I think I'll keep them pretty handy," said Windom.
