Showers kicking off Thursday morning in north Ga., metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — Most of north Georgia and some of metro Atlanta will start off Thursday morning with showers and rain.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says north Georgia can expect widespread rain, but the heart of metro Atlanta will see some scattered showers.

Rain will start moving in overnight and stick around through the morning hours.

Nitz says it will start moving out in late morning hours, but another round of showers will move through the area on Thursday afternoon.

The round of storms in the afternoon and evening have the potential to be stronger. Western parts of the metro will be under a Level 1 of 5 severe threat risk on Thursday evening.
