ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks sent most of the nearly 16,000 people at State Farm Arena Friday night home happy after a 105-94 win over the New York Knicks.
The victory gives Atlanta a 2-1 lead in their first round playoff series with the Knicks, with Game 4 scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

The crowd was on their feet most of the night Friday due to a well-balanced and exciting Hawks attack.
Star guard Trae Young had 21 points and 14 assists to lead the way. A total of seven Hawks scored in double figures in the win.

Friday night’s game was the first “full crowd” at the arena since 2019. It was the Hawks first home playoff game since 2015.
Channel 2 reporter Matt Johnson spoke to some excited fans who were excited about the game and even more excited to be at a sporting event as the pandemic begins to subside.
“Awesome man its about time,” said one fan.
“It feels like we’re back to normal times,” an excited fan told Johnson.
“It’s a big deal for me, coming back to some sense of normalcy since COVID,” another fan added.

Sunday afternoon’s game promises another sellout crowd and the Hawks have plenty of rules in place for anyone concerned about COVID-19.
The Hawks are requiring any fans seated courtside to show proof of being vaccinated and test negative for COVID-19.
Additionally all fans are told they should wear masks while at State Farm Arena unless eating or drinking. Most fans Johnson spoke to were comfortable with it.
“We can only do something for long, its time to get back to the normal stuff,” said another fan.
Game 4 is Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. you can watch it on Channel 2.
Game 5 of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night back in New York.
