The Atlanta Braves made a pitching move following Monday’s loss to Tampa Bay Rays. Mike Foltynewicz has been designated for assignment.
In the 14-5 loss, Foltynewicz gave up six runs, including three home runs, in 3 1/3 innings pitched.
Braves manager Brian Snitker said it was a tough decision but a move he felt needed to be done. The team will activate Chad Sobtka.
“In the short season, it’s just not happening right now, and we kind of feel a sense of urgency to some extent,” he said.

The DFA move means Foltynewicz is no longer on the Braves roster.
The Braves have options to trade the former All-Star or place him on waivers. If another team does not claim him off waivers, then Foltynewicz can outrighted to Gwinnett or released.
