Top performances from Week 8: Brown's TDs sparked North Gwinnett rally

ATLANTA — Nate Brown caught four touchdown passes in North Gwinnett’s 50-47 victory over Mill Creek last week. Two of those came in the fourth quarter, when North Gwinnett rallied from a 47-28 deficit.

For Brown, who has committed to Missouri, that wasn’t even his best game of the season. The senior had 10 catches for 172 yards and four touchdowns against Norcross last month in a 36-17 victory. He has 14 touchdown receptions on the season, at least one in each of North Gwinnett’s six games.

Here are some of the best individual performances from last week.

*Alexander RB Mikell Lands-Davis rushed for 312 yards and four touchdowns in 49 carries in a 33-19 victory over LaGrange. Lands-Davis had 19 carries for 121 yards in the first half and 30 carries for 191 yards in the second.

*Aquinas RB Ruben Garnett rushed for 284 yards on 41 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 42-14 victory over Lincoln County. Aquinas ended a 32-game losing streak against Lincoln County.

*Archer QB Gabe Tiller was 30-of-38 passing for 339 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-20 victory over Central Gwinnett.

*Cedartown RB Nick Chubb rushed for 355 yards and five touchdowns on 36 carries in a 42-34 victory over Pickens.

*North Gwinnett WR Nate Brown had eight receptions for 122 yards and four touchdowns in a 50-47 victory over Mill Creek.

Best of the rest

*Arabia Mountain QB Jakobi Meyers was 16-of-32 passing for 233 yards and two touchdowns in a 32-29 upset victory over Mays. WR Gregory Phillips, a preseason all-state pick, had five receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown.

*Athens Academy sophomore QB Drew Richardson, making his first varsity start at quarterback, was 12-of-20 passing for 137 yards and a touchdown in a 24-17 victory over Pinecrest Academy. Richardson also rushed for 55 yards and scored a touchdown.

*B.E.S.T. Academy RB Deshawn Waller had 231 yards rushing on 16 carries and scored touchdowns rushing and receiving in a 37-18 victory over Jackson of Atlanta.

*Brooks County QB Malkom Parrish was 14-of-23 passing for 240 yards and three touchdowns, and he returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown in a 39-21victory over Fitzgerald.

*Brookstone QB Jaqwon Roberts, a freshman playing in his first varsity game, was 16-of-26 passing for 280 yards and a touchdown to WR Kordell Braxton, who had seven catches for 186 yards in a 19-16 victory over Hawkinsville.

*Brookwood DB Casimir Isles had 16 tackles and two sacks in a 20-7 victory over Shiloh.

*Brunswick QB Cory Dixon passed for 116 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown in a 26-19 victory over Coffee.

*Cairo RB/MLB Jeremiah Hill set a school record with 265 yards rushing on 18 carries in a 42-28 victory over Worth County. Hill scored three touchdowns.

*Calhoun QB Fields Chapman was 15-of-20 passing for 282 yards and two touchdowns in a 45-0 victory over Pepperell.

*Calvary Day QB Michael Peterson was 11-for-15 passing for 185 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-0 victory over Savannah Christian. RB Derek Kirkland scored three touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving, and had 96 yards from scrimmage.

*Camden County RB/LB Antonio Wimbush rushed for 83 yards, returned a kickoff 93 yards, scored two touchdowns and had seven tackles and a sack in a 27-14 victory over Tift County.

*Cedar Grove WR Benjy Parrish caught two TD passes and returned a kickoff for a touchdown in a 48-21 victory over McNair.

*Chapel Hill sophomore RB Jamarcus Morrissette rushed for 244 yards and scored five touchdowns in a 52-13 victory over Douglass.

*Cook sophomore QB Connor Hilliard was 15-of-24 passing for 208 yards and two touchdowns in a 19-0 victory over Pelham. He threw for 234 yards the previous week against Fitzgerald.

*Eagle’s Landing Christian QB Dalton Etheridge was 15-of-17 passing for 273 yards and four touchdowns in a 61-0 victory over Mount Vernon Presbyterian. Etheridge also scored a touchdown.

*ECI RB James Brown had 210 yards from scrimmage – 134 rushing and 76 receiving – and scored four touchdowns and two conversions in a 42-15 victory over Treutlen.

*First Presbyterian RB Ryan Lindsey rushed for 165 yards and a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown in a 48-13 victory over Twiggs County.

*Glynn Academy RB/DB Emmett Thomas threw a 20-yard TD pass and scored on a 35-yard reception and a 90-yard kickoff return in a 39-8 victory over Groves.

*Grady QB Isiah Jenkins rushed for 261 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries in a 28-14 victory over previously unbeaten Washington. Jenkins also punted five times with no returns yards allowed.

*GAC RB Micah Abernathy scored four touchdowns and rushed for 204 yards – 96 of those on a TD run in the second half – in a 49-3 victory over Westminster.

*Jones County RB Walker Juhan rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 65-yard pass in a 27-15 victory over Evans. He also caught a pass for 65 yards.

*Kell RB Jay Moxey scored four touchdowns in a 35-15 victory over Osborne. He rushed for 135 yards on 25 carries.

*Lamar County RB/DB Lawrence Austin rushed for 109 yards and had a team-leading eight tackles in a 47-7 victory over Monticello.

*Locust Grove RB/SS Emilio Conde scored five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) and made five tackles in a 44-27 victory over Woodland of Stockbridge. Conde has 10 touchdowns in 43 carries and receptions this season. DB Cortez McDowell scored on 97-yard fumble return for the second consecutive game.

*Luella LB Jaylon Harris had 14 tackles, two for losses, intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, and forced a fumble in a 28-14 victory over Rockdale County.

*M.L. King LB Tarez Hall had 10 tackles, three for losses, in a 43-21 victory over Dunwoody.

*Macon County WR/LB Roquan Smith had 14 tackles, five for losses, and caught eight passes for 130 yards in a 42-21 loss to Bleckley County. He scored two touchdowns and forced a fumble.

*Monroe QB Charles Stafford passed for 247 yards and rushed for 79 and scored three touchdowns in a 34-10 victory over Americus-Sumter.

*Mundy’s Mill RB Rodney Smith rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries and scored on a 39-yard pass in a 30-14 victory over Drew.

*Newton sophomore QB Romario Johnson was 10-of-20 passing for 217 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 131 yards and one TD in a 32-21 victory over Druid Hills.

*Norcross QB A.J. Bush passed for 202 yards, rushed for 71 and scored three touchdowns in a 28-0 victory over Collins Hill.

*North Cobb Christian sophomore RB David Brittingham rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in a 41-21 victory over Providence Christian. It was North Cobb Christian’s first victory of the season.

*North Cobb QB Tyler Queen was 11-of-20 passing for 300 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-17 victory over Hillgrove.

*North Oconee Kawon Bryant scored five touchdowns – he has 30 this season – and rushed for 194 yards to give him 1,551 for the season in a 42-7 victory over Franklin County.

*North Paulding WR Kayden Bishop caught five passes – three for touchdowns – in a 63-31 victory over Rome.

*Northeast QB Davion Anderson threw two TD passes and returned an interception for a touchdown in a 20-17 victory over Taylor County.

*Parkview LB Nick Lawson had eight tackles, three for losses, and forced a fumble in a 28-21 victory over Dacula. RB Justin Rosser rushed for 184 yards and scored three touchdowns on 25 carries.

*Pickens RB Shannon Brooks rushed for 183 yards and had 66 receiving yards and scored four touchdowns in a 42-34 loss to Cedartown. Brooks has scored 15 touchdowns this season.

*Richmond Hill QB Nick Fitzgerald rushed for 196 yards and four touchdowns on 34 carries in a 35-20 victory over Effingham County. He was 1-for-1 passing for 29 yards.

*Sandy Creek Eric Swinney rushed for 147 yards on seven carries and scored on runs of 55 and 65 yards and caught a 58-yard TD pass in a 49-0 victory over Shaw.

*Turner County QB Quan Williams was 12-of-24 passing for 382 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-39 loss to Wilcox County. Williams also scored on a 33-yard halfback pass from Cederick Leggett.

*Walker RB/LB Gaines LaHue, who returned to football after having not played since the eighth grade, rushed for 299 yards on 21 carries and a school-record four touchdowns in a 25-20 victory over Fellowship Christian. Two of his touchdowns went for 75 yards. He had eight tackles on defense.
