Woman killed crossing road after Shaky Boots music festival

A 25-year-old woman was hit and killed by an SUV as she tried to cross the street after attending the Shaky Boots music festival in Cobb County, police said Sunday.

Chelsea A. Tucker, of Lizella, and three others were attempting to walk across Busbee Parkway shortly after midnight.

Police said for some unknown reason, Tucker stepped into oncoming traffic, and was hit and killed by a grey Toyota 4runner.

A witness, who is a nurse, told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes she stepped in to help.

She said a police officer was using his defibrillator.

“He’s doing CPR, he asked for gloves, we gave her the shock, started CPR again and then the paramedics came,” she said.

According to police, Tucker died at the scene.

Rob Longyear left the concert right before the accident and said when he went back to the music festival the next day, he saw someone dropped off flowers at the site.

“I happened to see the flowers, and then you know, you see all the spray paint, it’s not hard to figure out that something went wrong,” he said.

Investigators believe Jordan D. Padgett, 24, of Woodstock, was driving southbound on Busbee Parkway, south of Chastain Road, when he struck Tucker, according to police. Padgett was not injured, police said.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 770-499-3987.

Lizella is located about 20 minutes west of Macon.

The two-day Shaky Boots festival continued Sunday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
