Weekend Washout? Check Doppler 2 Radar

Jim Mundy

ATLANTA — Showers and thunderstorms will be popping up during through the Memorial Day weekend.

Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said, "Showers and thunderstorm will develop each day, primarily in the afternoon and early evening. The best chance of dry hours for your outdoor plans will come before noon."

Thunderstorms Friday evening knocked down trees and power lines. Hail as large as 1 inch fell in Sandy Springs and smaller hail across much of north Georgia.

Along with lightning and heavy rain, storms this afternoon may produce strong wind gusts and more hail.

There is a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms today, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
