EDINBURG, Texas — A Texas homeowner shot a man trying to get into a locked bedroom where she and her children hid.
Carlos Garcia, 36, is accused of breaking into a rural Edinburg home Tuesday evening, according to KVEO-TV.

Garcia allegedly entered her house through the garage and then tried to get into her locked bedroom, where she was hiding with her children. The mother warned Garcia that the police had been called and that she had a gun, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office said.
The intruder continued to enter the bedroom, and she eventually fired a single shot through the door.
Garcia fled the home and was found about 100 yards away with a gunshot wound to his left arm.
He was later booked into the Hidalgo County jail on a charge of burglary of a habitation with intent, according to KRGV-TV.
