The Temptations’ Bruce Williamson dies from coronavirus

A former lead singer for The Temptations has died from the coronavirus, multiple media outlets are reporting.

Bruce Williamson, who sang with the iconic Motown group from 2006 until 2015, was 50 years old.

Williamson performed with the group in concert and on television. He also was the lead singer on the group’s albums, “Back to the Front” and “Still Here,” TMZ reported.

“After seven years as a Temptation I am still in awe. I can still remember the first time I performed with the group: at a millionaire’s private birthday party, on a small stage that was erected on his tennis courts,” Williamson told Las Vegas Black Image Magazine in 2013.

The Temptations had been performing with various members since the 1960s and are best known for the hits “My Girl” and “The Way You Do The Things You Do,” the Huffington Post reported.

Williamson started singing soul music after his career with The Temptations and had a concert scheduled for pay-per-view on Sept. 12, People magazine reported.

Williamson was born in Compton, California, and started singing gospel music in church, TMZ reported.

Williamson died at his Vegas home on Sunday.

His son, Bruce Williamson Jr., posted a tribute to his father on social media, NBC News reported.
