The New York Police Department confirmed the arrest of Jose Reyes, 31, in connection to the Saturday incident.
“This heinous and horrendous act was interrupted by a good Samaritan who observed and got him to cease his behavior while subsequently videotaping the incident,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said during a news briefing.

Reyes has been charged with attempted rape, assault and harassment and was arrested in East Harlem around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Fox News reported.
According to police, a 25-year-old woman had exited the train at 11 a.m., and Reyes is believed to be the man who followed her and then attacked her on the subway platform.
According to NBC News, numerous people witnessed the incident, and the cellphone video showed the suspect on top of the unidentified woman, thrusting his body on her. Police also said the suspect punched the woman and threw her to the ground.
The NYPD’s facial recognition team identified Reyes from a previous arrest, Fox News reported.
