According to Twitter, Greene had a fifth “strike” on her @mtgreenee account, The New York Times reported. The fifth strike means her account will not be restored, the newspaper reported.

Greene still has access to and can tweet from her official congressional account, @RepMTG, according to CNN.

Twitter issued Greene a fourth strike in August after she tweeted that COVID-19 vaccines were “failing,” the Times reported. Greene was given a third strike less than a month before that, when she had tweeted that COVID-19 was not dangerous for people unless they were obese or older than age 65, adding that vaccines should not be required.

“We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy,” Twitter spokesperson Katie Rosborough said in a statement.

In a statement Sunday through her office, Greene said that she was suspended for tweeting statistics from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, NBC News reported.

“Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth,” Greene said. “That’s fine, I’ll show America we don’t need them and it’s time to defeat our enemies.

“Social media platforms can’t stop the truth from being spread far and wide,” Greene added. “Big Tech can’t stop the truth. Communist Democrats can’t stop the truth. I stand with the truth and the people. We will overcome!”

Twitter introduced a policy in March 2020 that explained the penalties for tweeting lies about COVID-19 and vaccines, the Times reported. Violators are subject to escalating penalties -- strikes -- and face a permanent ban if they repeatedly share information about the virus, according to the newspaper.
