A New York woman is accused of attempting to enter a courthouse with a pair of metal knuckles, authorities said.
Shatiqua Carter-McFarland, of Utica, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of third-degree possession of a weapon, a class D felony, the Rome Sentinel reported.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Carter-McFarland entered the Oneida County Courthouse on Wednesday at about 1:15 p.m. EST. She was found to be in possession of the weapon through a metal detector in the courthouse lobby, according to WKTV-TV.

Metal knuckles are illegal to possess in New York, the television station reported.
After she was arrested, Carter-McFarland was arraigned in Oneida County CAP Court and then released on her own recognizance, WUTR-TV reported.
She is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court, the television station reported.
