Brynnen Murphy, 20, was ordered held without bond, and police told WBRZ that they will likely pursue additional charges related to the death of the unborn child.

According to Baton Rouge police, 24-year-old Kaylen Johnson and 2-year-old Kaden Johnson were last seen alive on March 5. Their bodies were found in two separate locations on Monday, The Advocate reported.

Police believe both bodies had been dumped about a week ago, WBRZ reported.

Police spokesperson Sgt. L’Jean McKneely Jr. confirmed to The Advocate that Murphy, who surrendered to police on Monday, is not Kaden Johnson’s father.

According to WBRZ, Murphy confessed to shooting Kaylen Johnson multiple times and dumping her body before throwing the child, who was still alive, off the bridge.

Meanwhile, a preliminary autopsy indicated that the child likely died from hypothermia, but the coroner’s analysis is not complete, the TV station reported.

Family members, who reported Kaylen Johnson and her son missing over the weekend, confirmed to police that Kaylen Johnson was six months pregnant at the time of her disappearance. They also told police that Murphy was a property maintenance worker at Kaylen Johnson’s apartment complex and that he was babysitting Kaden Johnson the day the pair vanished, WBRZ reported.
