MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 12-year-old boy has died after he was struck by gunfire near a neighborhood store in Memphis, Tennessee, authorities said.
According to WHBQ-TV, the incident occurred about 4 p.m. Wednesday on Looney Avenue in North Memphis. Memphis police arrived to find the boy suffering from a critical gunshot wound, the department tweeted Wednesday evening. Emergency crews rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
At approx. 4 pm, officers responded to a shooting at 820 Looney. One juvenile was located with a gunshot wound. The juvenile was xported to LeBonheur in critical condition and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. This investigation is ongoing.

Investigators have not revealed any information about a possible motive or suspects in the deadly shooting, which occurred in the same area that another juvenile was killed less than a year ago, WHBQ-TV reported.
“We see our young babies getting killed and nobody seems to care,” anti-crime activist Stevie Moore told the news outlet. “That is my problem. We got to see something and say something.”
