BEAUMONT, Texas — A teacher in Texas has been fired after a video of her physically and verbally abusing a student in a classroom was posted to social media.
The video, taken on April 8 and posted on Twitter, shows Ozen High School teacher Mary Hastings repeatedly slapping a male student on the head and scolding him for being disruptive.
According to KHOU, the Beaumont Independent School District board voted to accept the recommendation that the geometry teacher be fired.

Hastings was arrested for assault on the day of the incident and has been on administrative leave.
