Tow Truck Driver Shot By Masked Men

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — College Park police are looking for two armed men who tried to rob a tow truck driver.

Police said the perpetrators confronted the driver at about 1 a.m. in the 2200 block of Godby Street in College Park.

Family members told Channel 2 Action News reporter Ryan Young that the driver, who worked for Moody's Wrecker Services in College Park, received a call for a tow.

When the driver arrived at the location, family members said a man instructed him to pull to the rear of an apartment complex and was shown a car that needed towing.

That's when they said the driver spotted a second man wearing a mask. The men demanded that the driver give up everything he had, relatives said.

The tow truck driver told the armed men that he had nothing, at which point one of the masked men pulled a gun and ordered the tow truck driver to his knees, relatives said.

The driver fought back and then tried to run, but the armed robbers opened fire.

Two bullets hit the driver as he ran - once in the back and another shot to the driver's hand.

The gunmen are still at large, police said.
