Teen Daughter Sues Over Fatal Hotel Fall

ATLANTA,None — The teen daughter of a woman killed in a 10-story fall is suing the midtown hotel where it happened.

Last month, LaShawna Threatt, fell out of a window during her 30th birthday celebration at the W hotel. Witnesses told police she was "play wrestling" with her friend, Cierra Williams, when they both fell into a window, which broke. Williams survived the fall.

A wrongful death and negligence lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Threatt's daughter, 14-year-old Imonee. As she is a minor, her grandmother, Sharon Traylor, Threatt's fiancé, LaRay Hamilton, and a family friend approached the Cochran Firm Atlanta to represent the girl.

Earlier this month, Threatt's father, Maurice, filed his own lawsuit, but according to the new suit, "as the surviving daughter and sole legal heir of LaShawna Threatt, [Imonee] is the only person legally entitled to bring a wrongful death lawsuit for the death."

According to the Cochran Firm, Imonee has asked that Hamilton become her legal guardian, and that he and her grandmother file a petition to be named co-administrators of Threatt's estate.
