It was an emotional homecoming at Piedmont Newnan Hospital Monday night when an Army private rushed home for the birth of his son after a tour in Afghanistan.
Rebecca Wood, 22, knows what it's like to spend time away from the one she loves. She's an Army wife.
"It's just a sacrifice you have to be willing to make for the ones you care about," Rebecca Wood told Channel 2’s Berndt Petersen.
Rebecca and Private Bryson Wood met at church when they were teenagers. They married last January.
In February, Bryson was sent to Afghanistan. In September, Rebecca carried a surprise to the airport.
"He left when I was only four-weeks pregnant. He had not seen me big at all. But it was so great. It was just a relief to have him back,” Rebecca said.
The baby was coming soon, but Uncle Sam ordered Bryson back to his base in Colorado.
Logan Thomas Wood arrived Sept. 22 at 12:15 p.m. He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces. Daddy was a few hours late, but Bryson said it didn’t matter.

Bryson pulled over to the side of the road as he was driving to the airport in Colorado and watched the birth of his son via Facetime.
"It's indescribable. The journey we've been on. I'm really proud of her. It's crazy that I'm a dad and everything now," Bryson said.
"We're so blessed. I'm so happy that he's home to experience this. It's the greatest gift to have both of them here," Rebecca said.
Bryson will be home for the next 10 days. Mommy, daddy and baby are doing well and are adjusting to be being a family now.
