Six Flags White Water Evacuated Due To Fire

MARIETTA, Ga. — A fire at Six Flags White Water closed the water park Sunday afternoon.

Company spokesman Kendell Kelton told Channel 2 Action News that some kind of fire was reported around 4 p.m. at the Marietta water park. It started in a maintenance building near the wave pool.

"It's a building called the barge," said Marietta Police spokesman Michael Gardner. "What that contains is just some pumping equipment and the wave machine for the wave pool itself."

Visitors told Channel 2 Action News reporter George Howell that lifeguards scrambled to try and put the fire out.

"We were standing in line at first," said visitor Matthew Braham. "We kind of smelled the smoke coming from like the other side of the park."

All the guests at White Water were forced to leave the park.

Kelton indicated there were no injuries.

Investigators were on the scene trying to find out what happened.
