ATLANTA,None — Authorities say they've reopened Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta, which has been closed since a garbage truck hit a bridge and a large chunk of concrete fell onto a vehicle Tuesday morning.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's office announced the road was reopened to traffic Friday afternoon, the start of a holiday weekend when traffic in metro Atlanta was expected to be heavy.
The accident happened when the truck hit a CSX railroad trestle over Bolton Road. Georgia Department of Transportation spokesman David Spear said the bridge was hit by the garbage truck's hydraulic arm.
Two people were injured in the accident.
