WINDER, Ga. — A Winder family is homeless after police said the propane tank used to heat their home caused an explosion.
Police said it happened on South Williams Street at about 3 a.m. Friday.
When officers arrived, they found the front door and several windows blown out of the residence.
Police said some family members were still inside the residence at which time they were immediately evacuated to a safe location.
One resident was taken to Barrow Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said their initial investigation revealed that the resident was attempting to heat his home using a propane tank.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
