Reaction from voters, political strategists on presidential debate

ATLANTA — Donald Trump is calling his debate with Hillary Clinton an interesting evening.

It was the most watched debate in U.S.history, with Neilsen saying more than 80 million people tuned in.

The candidates are already back at on the trail, and they're both talking about last night's showdown.

Clinton says she was happy to have the opportunity to talk about her vision for the country.

"I think viewers got a real chance to begin to compare us on policy,” Clinton said. “You know, policy gets lost a lot of the time in coverage with the back-and-forth that goes on."

The numbers are in, and the first presidential debate broke records as the most watched debate in U.S. history, but did the candidates do anything to change voters minds?

Voters Geary talked to said, "Not yet."

Both Republican strategist Brian Robinson and Democratic strategist Tharon Johnson agreed Hillary Clinton won the debate.

Robinson says Trump missed obvious opportunities to attack and instead played defense.

“I think she opened up the door to attacks. He didn't walk through,” Robinson said.

Johnson says the difference between the two was stark.

“What it really showed was a candidate who was prepared and a candidate not prepared,” Johnson said.

With less than two weeks to go until the next presidential debate, both men say the stakes will be even higher and offer their advice to the candidates.

“Take the attacks to her. She has a treasure trove of attacks,” Robinson said.

“Continue to show the type of temperament (she) showed last night,” Johnson said.
